A major component of CrossFit is scaling. It not only benefits your results, but it’s critical in maintaining safety during exercise. So what does it mean to scale a workout?
Scaling in CrossFit means modifying an exercise to best suit your level. It can mean increasing weight or difficulty when it feels too easy, or decreasing it when you’re struggling or in pain.
Some examples are changing the weight on the bar, altering distance, or modifying your form in an exercise.
The goal of scaling is to keep a high intensity while still being safe and avoiding any injury.
It’s always important to stay in tune with your body and recognize when it needs to be scaled down or up in a workout!
